Next Generation Processors Only to Run on Windows 10
Microsoft has announced in a blog post that they will reduce the support for next generation processors on Windows 7 and 8.1. Up until 17th July 2017, devices running with the Skylake processor will continue to be supported on Windows 7 and 8.1. However, if customers wish to continue to receive support from Microsoft after this period ends, they should upgrade to Windows 10. Windows 7 will continue to receive security and compatibility updates until January 14, 2020 on previous silicon processor, and Windows 8.1 until January 20, 2023. As new generation silicon processors are introduced, they will only run on the latest Windows software.
