HTC Vive Price confirmed at $799
Vive Price is confirmed at $799:
Vive price has been released today by HTC. Vive will cost $799 comparing to Rift’s $599/£499. Vive is starting pre-orders worldwide on 29th February and full commercial release is in Early April 2016. Reddit predicted around $850. Previews for Vive have been pretty positive with Tech Radar saying “HTC created something amazing with the Vive, and that’s been hugely refined with the Vive Pre” and Game Crate saying “I was going to wait a few generations to buy a VR system. But after trying the Vive, I’m buying it now.”
What are Vive’s Specs?
Vive will have a refresh rate of 90 Hz with two OLED screens at 1080×1200. Vive has a front facing camera, revealed at CES 2016, which allows the software to notice any objects in the room to avoid users hitting any obstacles, and to map out the room where it’s used. HTC revealed last year that Vive has more than 70 sensors built in, as well as a gyroscope, an accelerometer and a laser position sensor. Users will be able to explore a 15ft x 15ft real life space in Virtual Reality, with the front camera preventing collisions. It will work with your mobile phone and you’ll be able to make calls in VR.
One of the added benefits of Vive is that it comes with controllers which Verge called “the real story”. The controllers are wireless and their battery life is up to 4 hours. They feature a trigger, a home button and a circular touchpad. The controllers appear in virtual space as either hands, controllers or whatever the developers want them to appear as. PC Gamer also had good thing to say about the Vive controllers and the whole setup.
