A video showing how awesome VR is
Virtual Reality with no bounds:
Youtube user BrandonJLa made this video to show how awesome VR lighthouse tracking can be using a Vive. They got a huge warehouse, with lots of free space, and played a game in virtual reality. It looks amazing. We definitely cannot wait to try something like this out.
How does Lighthouse Tracking Work?
Lighthouse tracking fills the room with non-visible light, which bounces of the objects in the room and is received by sensors on the Vive. This allows the Vive to track where it is in a 3D room. The light comes from two rows of LEDs which remain stationary and two spinning lasers. Once the sensors receive the first beam of light, they begin counting the seconds until it receives the next beam. Then it uses that info, where and when the beam hits the sensor, to work out where in the room the head set is. It is a pretty awesome system and as you can see, BrandonJLa made great use of it. It’s front camera further helps it track object in the room.
