Rynn’s Adventure: Trouble in the Enchanted Forest Review
Rynn’s Adventure – a fun but difficult 2D platformer
Rynn’s Adventure is a plaformer that was released 31st March. It’s available on Steam Windows and MacOS X, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Xbox One. The basic idea is you control a fox, Rynn, and complete 8 missions to unlock the final one. Rynn’s Adventure is targeted at gamers of all ages. I’m not really a platform gamer (if that’s what it’s called) but I did enjoy Rynn’s Adventure.
The gameplay itself is good. I recommend playing with a controller if you are using a computer. The aim is to get through all the levels, jumping from platform to platform. You’ll have to face monsters all the way and they have a fast respawn rate. The intro scene to the game definitely fits the younger audience rather than an older one. It gave me a false impression of what the game would be like. The music on the main menu page is upbeat but slightly jarring at time. The actual music in game is good although can be after a while repetitive. One of the levels has pianos playing as the soundtrack which I really enjoyed.
The cartoony, 2D graphics fit the game well. Very much a Nintendo sort of game and really cool that its on Steam too. The mechanics in the game are well done. You can swing on vines, slip on ice and turn the world upside down. As you go along, the levels get much more difficult and you’ll have to deal with more monsters attacking you as well as the land. You’ve got to keep as many lives as you can because, trust me, you’ll need them later on. There are 3 keys you can get to unlock the boss at the end of the mission. It is a challenging game and took me around 2 hours to get the hang of the game and complete the first level. One annoying thing is when the game respawns you right next to a monster. It can be infuriating. As you play, you unlock additional costumes and abilities for Rynn, making you stronger and more able to complete levels in record time.
The game is pretty good. It’s fun and challenging and gives you around 8-10 hours of playing time. Once you get past the slightly cheesy intro to the game, and past the music of the main menu, you’ll get to play a fun game with an awesome (maybe a little repetitive) soundtrack. I feel like it would be a really good fit on r/WoahDude for a casual but challenging game (although, rumour has it, originally the game was listed on Steam as casual but the took it down because people didn’t like it – now it’s listed as difficult). Plus, the fox is super awesome – who wouldn’t want to play as Rynn! It is now available on Steam for £10.99 for both MacOS and Windows and is also on Nintendo 3DS, WiiU and Xbox One.
