Virtual Reality becomes mobile
NVIDIA and MSI have created the first official VR Ready laptop – MSI WT72
NVIDIA announced today their Quadro M5500 GPU which will be able to power VR laptops. The first laptop to use the M5500 is the MSI WT72. Drew Hunt, 3D Artist at HTC, said “The NVIDIA Quadro M5500 coupled with the MSI WT72 notebook is the perfect combo to use HTC Vive at work and at home.”
It is extremely important to have a powerful GPU in your laptop/desktop. Virtual reality headsets must run two 1080p screens at 90 frames per second to maximum the VR experience. According to NVIDIA, “with 2,048 CUDA cores, the Quadro M5500 is the world’s fastest mobile GPU.” Since it has only been announced, we have yet to try it. That’s not all though. NVIDIA is also working with Dell, HP and Lenovo to create a variety of professional VR ready laptops.
NVIDIA is currently in San Jose at the GPU Technology Conference displaying their partner’s and their latest VR technologies.
