Reddit App Review
Before the Reddit app, there were a few alternatives. I personally used Alien Blue and was completely satisfied with it. The big difference between the two is the size and style of posts.
Official Reddit App:
The larger photos in the Reddit app mean you can see what they are more clearly. They’ve added the upvote and downvote buttons which makes that easier. The larger posts means that the app displays less on the screen than Alien Blue which can be frustrating when scrolling through the mess to find good posts. Alien Blue puts more stress on the writing than the picture which is easier for browsing. It’s quite likely that this is mainly because I’m so used to Alien Blue that the Official Reddit App looks odd. You can choose between compact display and card view. Card view makes the app much mor like a new app or Instagram:
Non picture posts are smaller and more emphasis is put on the writing. This makes it easier to browse quickly through subreddits without needing to click on the photo to enlarge – a bonus for the lazy! Posting is simple and quick. All you need to do is click the pencil in the top left corner and a easy-to-use submission form. The app lets you post photos like Alien Blue. So overall it’s not much different. It’s an alternative that is as good. Personally, I’ll keep using Alien Blue for now, until Reddit come out with a mode where you can make the pictures much smaller like in Alien Blue. The pictures distract me and stop me looking at the writing which, for me, is he most import at thing.
